Casting

General Auditions for the 24/25 Season at McCarter Theatre have now passed. NYC EPAs were held on April 15th, 2024. Local Princeton EPAs were held on April 18th and 19th, 2024 at McCarter Theatre Center.  

Youth Ensemble Auditions for A Christmas Carol have now passed. Auditions were held at McCarter Theatre Center on Sept 8th, 2024. You must have been seen at these auditions in order to be considered for the Youth Ensemble. 

We are not actively seeking stage managers for the 24/25 Season. However, submissions were accepted with a deadline of June 1st, 2024.    

Please monitor this page for future audition opportunities. We expect the general timing of our auditions for the 25/26 season to be similar. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to casting@mccarter.org  

Scripts

McCarter employs a search rather than submission method when scouting new work. We do not accept submissions. This includes submissions from agents, writers, and other theater artists. We believe a more focused and directed approach benefits both McCarter and the artists we serve.  

McCarter is committed to nurturing new plays and artists through commissions, readings, workshops, retreats, and productions. We identify new artists by carefully following the work around us through contact with other theaters, festivals, graduate programs and playwright development organizations, and through conversations with our colleagues around the country. If the project fits our needs and we believe it may be a possible fit for development or production in the next few seasons, we will respond with a request to read the script.
